Guiness World Records honors 112-year-old Masazo Nonaka as the oldest living man in the world.
At 112 years old, this man is the latest to be recognized as the oldest in the world.
Guinness World Records on Tuesday (April 10) held a ceremony in honor of Masazo Nonaka
He was joined by family and local officials on the northern Japanese island of Hokkaido.
During the ceremony, Nonaka could only eat the whipped cream off his cake, as he is no longer able to have solid food.
Born in 1905, Nonaka was a farmer and a lumberjack in his youth.
He ran a hot spring resort in his hometown Ashoro, where he raised five chidlren.
Nonaka is now one of eight centenarians living in the tiny farming town.
He was known to regularly soak himself in sulfur-rich hot springs and was always hungry for all things sweet.
His main draw is strawberry shortcake.
The oldest man that ever lived was another Japanese man who died aged 116,
while the oldest person on record was a Frenchwoman who lived to 122.
