Today marks two years since the United Nations declared June13th as International Albinism Awareness Day. This historic resolution confirmed the global focus on albinism advocacy. Amidst the cerebration taking place across the world today, the African continent is using this day to reflect on those who have been attacked and lost their lives or were mutilated because they have albinism.
Today we talk to social activist and host of the albinism report a, radio show which tackles issues affecting people with albinism. Puleng Molebatsi is in studio to talk to us about the recent dialogue she conducted between traditional healers, members of the South African Police Service as well as people with albinism in the Mpumalanga province. The province has had a high rate of cases of attacks on people with albinism in this year.
